和 in a sentence

• 我wǒ和hé你nǐ都dōu是shì学xué生shēng。

  You and I are both students.

• 我wǒ喜xǐ欢huān茶chá和hé咖kā啡fēi。

  I like tea and coffee.

• 我wǒ和hé妈mā妈mā去qù商shāng店diàn。

  Mom and I went to the shop.

和 vs 跟 vs 而且

Similar and easily confused words, and how they differ.

• 跟 gēn with; and

  In speech 跟 often replaces 和 — 我跟你去 'I'll go with you'. For joining two nouns they are interchangeable; 和 is a touch more formal.

• 而且 ér qiě and also; moreover

  和 only joins nouns, never clauses or adjectives. To add a clause use 而且 — 很漂亮，而且很便宜.
